Priorities, Vision, and Experience

What priorities and vision do you have for the office of Colorado State Representative, and how would your personal and professional experience contribute to that?

My priority is to faithfully represent the people of my district while upholding the Constitutions. I will focus on protecting individual liberty, promoting government accountability, supporting families and small businesses, and addressing affordability. My years of leadership, project management, community engagement, and work with organizations across Colorado have prepared me to listen, build relationships, solve problems, and serve with integrity.

Accountability

Colorado's Sunshine Law and Taxpayer Bill of Rights are examples of accountability measures that Colorado's electorate voted into law. What are your beliefs on ethics in government, and how would you seek to improve accountability and transparency as they relate to the office of Colorado State Representative?

Government should be open, honest, and accountable to the people it serves. As a State Representative, I would support transparency in the legislative process, responsible use of taxpayer dollars, and clear communication with my constituents. I believe elected officials should respect Colorado’s Sunshine Law, TABOR, and the decisions voters make at the ballot box.

1st Amendment

What are your thoughts on the establishment clause; and if elected, what will you do to protect your constituents' rights to freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government for a redress of grievances?

I believe the Establishment Clause prevents government from establishing or favoring an official religion while protecting every individual’s right to freely exercise their faith. As a State Representative, I would uphold the First Amendment and defend my constituents’ rights to religious liberty, free speech, peaceful assembly, and petitioning their government without discrimination or government interference.

2nd Amendment

In light of recent Colorado legislation and US Supreme Court's rulings regarding our nation's historical tradition of firearms regulation, what steps would you take to protect the rights of the people while addressing gun violence?

I will defend the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and oppose laws that unnecessarily restrict those constitutional freedoms. Efforts to address gun violence should focus on violent criminals, enforcement of existing laws, and keeping firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a lawful, demonstrated threat to others. Any new legislation must respect the Constitution and the standards established by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Anti-Americanism and Antisemitism

There has been a rise in incidences of anti-Americanism and antisemitism in Colorado and across our nation. What do you view as the causes, and what should be done to address these issues?

I believe these issues grow when we fail to teach our nation’s history, constitutional principles, and respect for the rights and dignity of others. We must strengthen civic education, condemn antisemitism and hatred, and hold individuals accountable when conduct crosses the line into threats or violence. At the same time, we must protect the constitutional freedoms of speech and religion for every American.

Economy and Resources

If elected, what initiatives would you champion to improve Colorado's economy, including policies on water, energy, and other resources, and how would you make your office more fiscally responsible?

I would focus on reducing unnecessary regulations and costs that burden families and businesses, protecting Colorado’s water resources, and supporting reliable, affordable, and responsible energy production. I would also promote responsible development of our natural resources. In office, I would prioritize essential services, scrutinize spending, eliminate waste, and ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and transparently.

Education

If elected, how would you help improve the educational outcomes for Colorado's students, and what is your position on parental authority in K-12 education, including school choice and parental notification?

I would prioritize strong academic fundamentals, accountability, and ensuring education dollars reach the classroom. Parents should have a meaningful role in their children’s education, including access to curriculum and appropriate parental notification. I support expanding career and technical education, apprenticeships, and trade-school opportunities. I also support school choice so families can pursue the educational environment that best meets their child’s needs.

Protecting the Most Vulnerable

If elected, how will you seek to protect the lives of the most vulnerable in our community, including the unborn, victims of trafficking and abuse, senior citizens, and those experiencing mental illness?

I believe every human life has inherent value and deserves protection, including the unborn and our most vulnerable citizens. I would support policies that protect life, strengthen efforts to prevent human trafficking and abuse, safeguard seniors from neglect and exploitation, and improve access to effective mental-health services. Government should protect those who cannot protect themselves while holding those who exploit or harm others accountable.

Public Safety and Rule of Law

What are your priorities for addressing crime in Colorado, including issues such as cybercrime and the slavery of human trafficking, and how do you view the role of state policy in addressing immigration-related challenges and coordination with federal authorities? Also, what is your opinion regarding sanctuary city (or county) policies?

Public safety is a fundamental responsibility of government. I would prioritize holding violent and repeat offenders accountable, strengthening efforts against human trafficking and cybercrime, and supporting law enforcement. Immigration is primarily a federal responsibility, but Colorado should cooperate with federal authorities in accordance with the Constitution and the law, particularly when dealing with individuals who commit serious crimes. I do not support sanctuary policies that prevent lawful cooperation and undermine public safety.

Election Integrity

Do you believe that elections should be conducted differently in order to ensure integrity and confidence? Should people be required to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and/or be required to show a Government-issued ID to cast their vote?

I believe secure and transparent elections are essential to maintaining public confidence in our constitutional republic. I support reasonable safeguards that verify voter eligibility, including proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and government-issued identification when casting a ballot. Election laws should protect every eligible citizen’s right to vote while ensuring that every lawful vote is counted accurately and securely.

Constitutional Compatibility

Many Christians are concerned about ideologies that place the state, the collective, or religious law above individual liberty and limited constitutional government. Do you believe socialism, communism, or political movements seeking to impose religious law — including Islamic Sharia law — are compatible with America's constitutional representative democracy? Why or why not?

I believe no political ideology, government, or religious legal system should supersede the U.S. Constitution. Socialism, communism, or any attempt to impose including Sharia law would be incompatible with our constitutional system when it violates individual liberty or constitutional rights. Americans are free to practice their faith, but our government and laws must remain subject to the Constitution.

Priorities, Vision, and Experience

What priorities and vision do you have for the office of Colorado State Representative, and how would your personal and professional experience contribute to that?

I will defend TABOR. I will oppose new debt, which is typically only an end-around to circumvent TABOR. I will support school choice and the 2nd Amendment. I will defend the the rights of immigrants to pursue happiness, and to live and work in Colorado, while opposing taxpayer assistance to the undocumented. I will support a woman's right to choose, as this delicate and difficult decision should not be one made by government. At the same time, I will oppose taxpayer funding for such.

I will fight to simplify regulations on business so as to make it easier to start and operate a business in Colorado.

I will lobby for any reduction in taxes. I will oppose any increase.

I will expose any vested interest that constitutes a conflict involving any legislator, especially when the legislator is the sponsor or co-sponsor of a bill. i believe that controversial votes should be conducted in roll-call fashion.

1st Amendment

What are your thoughts on the establishment clause; and if elected, what will you do to protect your constituents' rights to freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government for a redress of grievances?

I will oppose the establishment of a state religion and oppose all legal favoritism to any particular religion. I will defend the right to speak, think, and assemble.

2nd Amendment

In light of recent Colorado legislation and US Supreme Court's rulings regarding our nation's historical tradition of firearms regulation, what steps would you take to protect the rights of the people while addressing gun violence?

Those who peaceably own and/or carry guns should not be the target of legislation or actions by the police. Neither should accessories for those guns be a target. We have laws against crime, and whether crime is committed with a gun, or not, should not affect the workings of the justice system.

Anti-Americanism and Antisemitism

There has been a rise in incidences of anti-Americanism and antisemitism in Colorado and across our nation. What do you view as the causes, and what should be done to address these issues?

"Anti-Americanism" is not a crime, and should not be treated as such. This term is typically a dog-whistle used to condemn those who criticize our government. Criticism and dissatisfaction with our government are first amendment rights. "Antisemitism" is likewise a dog-whistle used to condemn our government's dealings with the State of Israel. It is likewise a first-amendment right. Criticism of a particular religion is in poor taste, but still protected speech.

Economy and Resources

If elected, what initiatives would you champion to improve Colorado's economy, including policies on water, energy, and other resources, and how would you make your office more fiscally responsible?

I would champion a thorough review of business licensing practices and eliminate where possible multiple levels (such as redundant city, county, and state laws) that impede businesses.

I would oppose any attempts by the legislature to pick winners and losers in the energy sector.

I would fight for responsible harvesting of trees to prevent wildfires.

Education

If elected, how would you help improve the educational outcomes for Colorado's students, and what is your position on parental authority in K-12 education, including school choice and parental notification?

Flexibility in education will give the best results for our kids in school. I support charter schools and those schools that provide assistance for home schooling. Parents must be allowed to select the best educational environment for their kids.

Protecting the Most Vulnerable

If elected, how will you seek to protect the lives of the most vulnerable in our community, including the unborn, victims of trafficking and abuse, senior citizens, and those experiencing mental illness?

Government has no proper role in mandating woman's decisions in pregnancy.

Victims of trafficking and abuse should have restitution rights, while perpetrators of course should be prosecuted (especially if the perpetrators hold government office). The government should not stand between senior citizens and their care. Those who cannot fend for themselves, such as those suffering with mental illness, addiction, and incapacity due to age, should get charitable care as needed, and government assistance when that fails.

Government should do a few thing, do them well, and do them efficiently. One of those things is preventing and investigating crime. There is no excuse for a backlog in processing rape kits. There is no excuse for failing to investigate and prosecute crime of any kind, including cybercrime. Immigrants have the right to pursue happiness as an inherent right of any human. Federal laws that created ICE are wrong. No one should be rounded up for working, no matter their documentation status. Our state should never cooperate with ICE in any way.

Election Integrity

Do you believe that elections should be conducted differently in order to ensure integrity and confidence? Should people be required to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and/or be required to show a Government-issued ID to cast their vote?

Election integrity can be improved as officials see fit. It should not be turned over to the Federal government. Proof of citizenship should be easily obtained by good-faith voters. It should not be onerous or difficult.

There is only one valid rule of law in this country, and that is law based on the Constitution. Any "law" that conflicts with the Constitution is inavalid.

Christian voting

Voting is a simple, yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions, as well as our lack of action. (Luke 12:48)

Biblical worldview

By diligently learning, applying, and trusting God’s truths in every area of our lives, we can begin to develop a deep comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of our culture’s non-biblical ideas.

Vote your values

The issues of the day change. Political parties and platforms change. God’s Word never changes. The vote of every Christian should be based on the principles of Scripture and not persuasive personalities.

Electing righteous leaders

Bad governance and our loss of freedom is the direct result of the church’s failure to disciple. When the citizenry do not seek to be obedient to God’s Law, they vote in wicked and corrupt candidates, who then trample underfoot the God-given liberties of the people.
