Priorities, Vision, and Experience

What priorities and vision do you have for the office of Colorado State Representative, and how would your personal and professional experience contribute to that?

My priority as a Colorado State Representative is to put people before politics and focus on the issues that matter most to families, seniors, students, and small businesses. This includes lower taxes, safer communities, stronger schools, government accountability, and policies that make Colorado more affordable. I will also work to protect our constitutional rights and stand firm in fighting for life.

My experience has prepared me well for this role. I spent 30 years in education and currently serve on the District 11 Board of Education. Throughout my career, I have worked with families, educators, veterans, and community leaders to solve problems and advocate for our community. I believe leadership begins with service, listening, and standing up for the people.

Accountability

Colorado's Sunshine Law and Taxpayer Bill of Rights are examples of accountability measures that Colorado's electorate voted into law. What are your beliefs on ethics in government, and how would you seek to improve accountability and transparency as they relate to the office of Colorado State Representative?

I believe ethics in government must be grounded in honesty, transparency, and respect for taxpayers. Colorado voters have already made their expectations clear through measures like the Sunshine Law and the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, and I strongly support their intent to keep government open and accountable.

As a State Representative, I will support policies that increase transparency, require clear reporting of how tax dollars are spent, and ensure decisions are made in the open. I will also support stronger ethical standards that hold elected officials accountable for their actions.

Most importantly, I will always remember I work for the people of Colorado. Trust is earned through openness, accountability, and a consistent commitment to putting taxpayers first.

1st Amendment

What are your thoughts on the establishment clause; and if elected, what will you do to protect your constituents' rights to freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government for a redress of grievances?

I strongly support the establishment clause as a vital protection that keeps government from establishing or favoring any religion, while also safeguarding the free exercise of religion for all Americans. These protections are essential to our constitutional republic and to maintaining a free and diverse society.

I will always defend the First Amendment rights of my constituents and I will oppose any effort that infringes on these rights, whether from government overreach or political pressure.

I will stand firm in ensuring that every individual can freely express their beliefs, participate in civic life, and engage with their government without fear of censorship or discrimination.

2nd Amendment

In light of recent Colorado legislation and US Supreme Court's rulings regarding our nation's historical tradition of firearms regulation, what steps would you take to protect the rights of the people while addressing gun violence?

I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, while also supporting real solutions that reduce gun violence without punishing responsible gun owners or infringing on our constitutional rights.

I am strongly opposed to recent gun laws in Colorado that I believe exceed constitutional limits and infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens, and I will work to oppose any effort that continues down that path and stand firm in defending the Second Amendment.

I also support strengthening school safety, holding violent offenders accountable, and improving mental health resources. The goal should be public safety while fully protecting the constitutional rights of responsible gun owners.

Anti-Americanism and Antisemitism

There has been a rise in incidences of anti-Americanism and antisemitism in Colorado and across our nation. What do you view as the causes, and what should be done to address these issues?

The rise in anti-American sentiment and antisemitism is concerning and has real impacts on individuals and communities across Colorado and the nation. I believe contributing factors include growing polarization, less emphasis on civic education, and the spread of misinformation that can deepen misunderstanding and division.

Addressing this will require education, community engagement, and accountability. Strengthening civic education can help students better understand our history and institutions and how to engage respectfully in public life. Communities also benefit when leaders and organizations encourage dialogue, understanding, and respect across differences.

Acts of hate and intimidation should be taken seriously, and communities should feel safe reporting and addressing them. Encouraging respect, understanding, and shared responsibility is key to maintaining strong and healthy communities.

Economy and Resources

If elected, what initiatives would you champion to improve Colorado's economy, including policies on water, energy, and other resources, and how would you make your office more fiscally responsible?

I will focus on strengthening Colorado’s economy by supporting policies that help families and small businesses thrive, reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens, and promote responsible growth while protecting our natural resources.

On water, I support protecting existing water rights and investing in infrastructure to ensure long term access for agriculture, communities, and future growth. On energy, I support an all of the above approach that keeps costs affordable and ensures reliable service while maintaining grid reliability.

I will also promote fiscal responsibility by increasing transparency in state spending, prioritizing essential services, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and with accountability to the public.

Education

If elected, how would you help improve the educational outcomes for Colorado's students, and what is your position on parental authority in K-12 education, including school choice and parental notification?

I will focus on improving student outcomes by strengthening the fundamentals of education, especially reading, writing, math, and critical thinking. I will support teachers by reducing unnecessary administrative burdens and ensuring resources reach the classroom. I also believe strong local control is key to student success.

I strongly support parental authority in K-12 education. Parents should have a clear voice in their child’s education, access to information, and timely notification on important school matters. I support school choice because parents, not the government, must be able to chose the best fit for their children.

My goal is to ensure every student has access to a high quality education that prepares them for success.

Protecting the Most Vulnerable

If elected, how will you seek to protect the lives of the most vulnerable in our community, including the unborn, victims of trafficking and abuse, senior citizens, and those experiencing mental illness?

I will focus on protecting the most vulnerable in our community by supporting policies that prioritize safety, dignity, and care at every stage of life.

I believe the unborn deserve protection, and I will stand firm in defending life, including opposing the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. I will support stronger efforts to combat human trafficking and abuse, ensuring law enforcement and support services have the tools they need to rescue victims and hold offenders accountable.

For seniors, I will advocate for policies that protect their independence, safety, and access to quality care. For those struggling with mental illness, I support easier access to treatment, crisis services, and community based support so people are not left without help.

Public Safety and Rule of Law

What are your priorities for addressing crime in Colorado, including issues such as cybercrime and the slavery of human trafficking, and how do you view the role of state policy in addressing immigration-related challenges and coordination with federal authorities? Also, what is your opinion regarding sanctuary city (or county) policies?

One of my priorities is keeping Colorado communities safe by supporting law enforcement, strengthening penalties for violent crime, and ensuring victims are protected and supported. I also take seriously the growing threats of cybercrime and human trafficking. We need better coordination, training, and resources so law enforcement can track and prosecute these crimes effectively and help survivors rebuild their lives.

On immigration related challenges, I believe the state should work closely with federal authorities to ensure laws are enforced consistently and that public safety comes first. Policies should not create confusion or hinder cooperation between agencies.

I do not/will not support sanctuary policies that limit communication or coordination with federal immigration enforcement, especially when public safety is at risk.

Election Integrity

Do you believe that elections should be conducted differently in order to ensure integrity and confidence? Should people be required to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and/or be required to show a Government-issued ID to cast their vote?

I believe the integrity of our elections is essential to public trust in government. I prefer in-person voting over mail-in ballots, with exceptions for military personnel and voters who are infirm or otherwise unable to vote in person.

I support measures that ensure only eligible citizens are voting. Proof of citizenship should be required to register to vote, and I also support a reasonable voter identification requirement when casting a ballot, with safeguards to ensure access for all eligible voters.

Any changes should be approached carefully to protect both security and accessibility, because every eligible vote matters and every unlawful vote undermines trust in the system. I want to strengthen confidence in elections while protecting the rights of lawful voters.

Constitutional Compatibility

Many Christians are concerned about ideologies that place the state, the collective, or religious law above individual liberty and limited constitutional government. Do you believe socialism, communism, or political movements seeking to impose religious law — including Islamic Sharia law — are compatible with America's constitutional representative democracy? Why or why not?

I believe America’s constitutional republic is built on individual liberty, limited government, and the rule of law under the Constitution. Systems such as socialism or communism, which concentrate power in the state and reduce individual freedom, are not compatible with those founding principles. Likewise, any effort to impose religious law, including Sharia law or any other system above the Constitution, is not consistent with our form of government.

In the United States, no ideology or religious framework should replace or override the Constitution. Our strength comes from protecting freedom of conscience, equal justice under the law, and the rights of individuals. I will always support policies that preserve those constitutional foundations and resist efforts that move us away from them.

Priorities, Vision, and Experience

What priorities and vision do you have for the office of Colorado State Representative, and how would your personal and professional experience contribute to that?

I believe that it is the responsibility of government to protect individual rights, not a hierarchy of trumped up classes for special privileges.

I see the medical insurance system as the cause of our stratospheric medical costs. I have no issue with state funded medical research, but resulting medications should therefore be offered to the public at cost plus sustainable profit. The medical profession should be nudged toward healing practices not drugging symptoms.

Taxpayer funded projects must serve the public at large and must be completed at reasonable cost.

TABOR keeps the legislator responsible to his/her constituency, not campaign contributors. That is a very good thing. State largess may feel good to legislators but it is crippling to taxpayers.

1st Amendment

What are your thoughts on the establishment clause; and if elected, what will you do to protect your constituents' rights to freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government for a redress of grievances?

The First Amendment is probably the most fundamental right elaborated in the Bill of Rights. Considering freedom of religion, however, I do not consider the protection to extend to religious tenets that violate individuals' basic rights and/or dignity. For instance, I do not recognize Sharia Law as superior to U.S. or Colorado State Law.

2nd Amendment

In light of recent Colorado legislation and US Supreme Court's rulings regarding our nation's historical tradition of firearms regulation, what steps would you take to protect the rights of the people while addressing gun violence?

Violence is almost universally illegal. The term, "gun violence," wherever it is found, is a theatrical term used to vilify firearms. The Second Amendment was crafted by the Founders to underpin the sovereignty of individuals to effect their own protection and to resist tyranny. Eroding the Second Amendment will ultimately lead to enslaving the people.

Anti-Americanism and Antisemitism

There has been a rise in incidences of anti-Americanism and antisemitism in Colorado and across our nation. What do you view as the causes, and what should be done to address these issues?

The education system, especially "higher education," has been infected with people who project such attitudes, thereby influencing the attitudes of young people they have been entrusted to educate. This trend needs to be reversed is this country is to survive in recognizable form.

Economy and Resources

If elected, what initiatives would you champion to improve Colorado's economy, including policies on water, energy, and other resources, and how would you make your office more fiscally responsible?

DOGE for Colorado would make a good start.

Water is our most precious resource. Exceeding nature's allotment will have disastrous consequences.

Modern coal powered generation plants at this time look like the most economical production method. Nuclear the cleanest.

Education

If elected, how would you help improve the educational outcomes for Colorado's students, and what is your position on parental authority in K-12 education, including school choice and parental notification?

Extricate Colorado from the influence of the Department of Education, with its one-size-fits-all standardization. Prevent the teachers' union from protecting incompetent teachers from corrective action by school boards. Parental authority means little as long as federal "standards" prevail. School choice and parental notification should be protected by Colorado Law.

Protecting the Most Vulnerable

If elected, how will you seek to protect the lives of the most vulnerable in our community, including the unborn, victims of trafficking and abuse, senior citizens, and those experiencing mental illness?

Protection of the unborn is a responsibility shared by the mother and her doctor. It is not the province of legislators. There are systems in place to protect victims of trafficking. To see that they are adequately funded falls to the State.

Immigration-related challenges are primarily a federal issue. The state is obligated to not interfere with federal law enforcement. Coordination with federal authorities would be dependent on adequate funding to support it.

Election Integrity

Do you believe that elections should be conducted differently in order to ensure integrity and confidence? Should people be required to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and/or be required to show a Government-issued ID to cast their vote?

I support a return to in-person voting at official polling stations. Proof of citizenship to register and showing ID to vote are obvious requirements to more secure elections.

Socialism, communism, and religious law are not compatible with America's constitutional democratic republic. I'm not sure I'm capable of stooping to explain why.

Christian voting

Voting is a simple, yet significant way to do something about public policy in our country. As people of faith, we will be held accountable for our actions, as well as our lack of action. (Luke 12:48)

Biblical worldview

By diligently learning, applying, and trusting God’s truths in every area of our lives, we can begin to develop a deep comprehensive faith that will stand against the unrelenting tide of our culture’s non-biblical ideas.

Vote your values

The issues of the day change. Political parties and platforms change. God’s Word never changes. The vote of every Christian should be based on the principles of Scripture and not persuasive personalities.

Electing righteous leaders

Bad governance and our loss of freedom is the direct result of the church’s failure to disciple. When the citizenry do not seek to be obedient to God’s Law, they vote in wicked and corrupt candidates, who then trample underfoot the God-given liberties of the people.
