What priorities and vision do you have for the office of Colorado State Representative, and how would your personal and professional experience contribute to that?
My vision as a Colorado State Representative is to put House District 18 first and keep government accountable to those it serves. My priorities are strengthening public safety, protecting TABOR and taxpayers, lowering costs, protecting children, defending freedom, and helping families, small businesses, and communities thrive.
I am a proud American by choice, An Army wife 30 years, and Airman mom, and former middle school teacher. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Finance and Economics, giving me a strong foundation in fiscal responsibility and sound budgeting. I will bring a servant leadership, common sense, and a commitment to listening to the people I represent.
Colorado's Sunshine Law and Taxpayer Bill of Rights are examples of accountability measures that Colorado's electorate voted into law. What are your beliefs on ethics in government, and how would you seek to improve accountability and transparency as they relate to the office of Colorado State Representative?
I believe elected officials are entrusted with the people’s money, trust, and constitutional rights. That trust requires honesty, integrity, and transparency and accountability. Colorado’s Sunshine Law and TABOR reflect the voters’ expectation that government remain accountable and fiscally responsible.
As a State Representative, I would clearly communicate legislation, spending, and decisions while following Colorado’s ethics and open-government laws. I would communicate openly with constituents, seek their input, just as I am right now by knocking on doors and make government information accessible and understandable.
I would respect taxpayers, support responsible fiscal oversight, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure that the people, not special interests, remain at the center of representative government.
What are your thoughts on the establishment clause; and if elected, what will you do to protect your constituents' rights to freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and petitioning the government for a redress of grievances?
I believe the Establishment Clause protects religious freedom by preventing government from establishing or favoring a religion, while also protecting every individual’s right to freely practice their faith. Our First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion, speech, peaceable assembly, and the right to petition government, and I believe these rights must be protected.
As a State Representative, I will defend these constitutional freedoms and oppose government actions that infringe upon them. I will listen to my constituents, regardless of their beliefs or political views, and ensure they have a voice in government.
In light of recent Colorado legislation and US Supreme Court's rulings regarding our nation's historical tradition of firearms regulation, what steps would you take to protect the rights of the people while addressing gun violence?
I believe the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, free from unnecessary government infringement. I will defend the constitutional rights of law-abiding Coloradans while working to keep our communities safe.
As a State Representative, I would oppose laws that infringe on the rights of responsible citizens. I would believe we need to hold violent offenders accountable, improve mental health resources, and address the underlying causes of violence. Any new regulation must respect due process, equal protection, public safety, and the constitutional rights of the people while preserving lawful firearm ownership for responsible citizens.
There has been a rise in incidences of anti-Americanism and antisemitism in Colorado and across our nation. What do you view as the causes, and what should be done to address these issues?
I believe the rise in anti-Americanism and antisemitism is fueled by ignorance or our history, misinformation, political extremism, and the normalization of hatred. We must reject antisemitism and all forms of discrimination while protecting the First Amendment rights of every Coloradan.
As a State Representative, I would support education that teaches our nation’s history honestly and reinforces the principles of liberty, equality, and individual responsibility. I would also support enforcing laws against threats, violence, vandalism, and other criminal acts motivated by hate, while protecting constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful expression.
If elected, what initiatives would you champion to improve Colorado's economy, including policies on water, energy, and other resources, and how would you make your office more fiscally responsible?
I would champion policies that encourage economic growth, lower costs, and make Colorado a place where families and businesses can thrive. With my degree in Finance and Economics, I understand the importance of sound budgeting and allowing the free market to work.
I would support responsible water development and conservation, reliable and affordable energy, streamlined regulations, and policies that protect Colorado’s natural resources while supporting agriculture, businesses and growth. I would oppose unnecessary taxes, fees, and regulations that drive businesses and families out of Colorado. Government should live within its means and prioritize essential services while respecting taxpayers and protecting their hard earned money.
If elected, how would you help improve the educational outcomes for Colorado's students, and what is your position on parental authority in K-12 education, including school choice and parental notification?
I believe every Colorado student deserves a quality education that prepares them for success, while parents retain the primary authority and responsibility for their children’s education. As a State Representative, I would support policies that improve literacy, academic achievement, school safety, and accountability while empowering teachers to teach and students to learn.
I support school choice because families should be able to choose the educational environment that best meets the educational environment that best meets their child’s needs, including public, charter, private, and homeschool options. I support meaningful parental notification and transparency regarding matters that significantly affect a child’s education, well-being, or records.
If elected, how will you seek to protect the lives of the most vulnerable in our community, including the unborn, victims of trafficking and abuse, senior citizens, and those experiencing mental illness?
I believe every human life has inherent dignity and deserves protecting, especially those who are most vulnerable. Children are near and dear to my hear, and we must protect them. As the El Paso County co-captain for Protect Kids Colorado, I helped lead the efforts supporting three initiatives that will appear on the November ballot.
As a State Representative, I would advocate for policies that protect the unborn, strengthen families, combat human trafficking and abuse, protect seniors from exploitation, and improve access to mental health and crisis resources. I would support holding those who harm vulnerable people accountable under the law.
What are your priorities for addressing crime in Colorado, including issues such as cybercrime and the slavery of human trafficking, and how do you view the role of state policy in addressing immigration-related challenges and coordination with federal authorities? Also, what is your opinion regarding sanctuary city (or county) policies?
My priorities would be keeping Coloradans safe, supporting law enforcement, and holding criminals accountable. I would strengthen efforts to combat human trafficking, child exploitation, violent crime, and cybercrime, while ensuring victims receive appropriate support.
Colorado should not become a sanctuary state. We can uphold the rule of law while treating every person with dignity and ensuring our communities remain safe.
Do you believe that elections should be conducted differently in order to ensure integrity and confidence? Should people be required to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote, and/or be required to show a Government-issued ID to cast their vote?
I believe elections must be secure, transparent, accessible, and worthy of public confidence. I support requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and government-issued photo identification to cast a ballot. As an immigrant from Ecuador, I find it noteworthy that my birth country already uses safeguards such as voter ID and verification of voter eligibility.
At the same time, I believe legitimate voters should have reasonable ways to participate. While knocking on doors throughout HD18, some seniors have shared that, due to their physical circumstances, mail ballots work best for them. I would protect that option while supporting stronger voter-roll maintenance, ballot verification, and transparent procedures.
Many Christians are concerned about ideologies that place the state, the collective, or religious law above individual liberty and limited constitutional government. Do you believe socialism, communism, or political movements seeking to impose religious law — including Islamic Sharia law — are compatible with America's constitutional representative democracy? Why or why not?
I believe American’s constitutional representative democracy is grounded in individual liberty, equal protection under the law, freedom of religion, private property, and limited government. Systems such a communism and authoritarian forms of socialism that subordinate individual rights to the state or collective are fundamentally inconsistent with these principles. I don’t believe any religious law should supersede the U.S. Constitution or be imposed through government.
